Issues with works router

I'm not the most technical but also not completely useless so I will try my best to explain.

my place of work (homeless charity with accommodation) recently changed from plusnet to sky broadband. We have 2 routers in 2 buildings.

every morning we have to turn the router on and off as it won't be working. Even though all lights are green like it should be. This happens more so in the main building but intermittently in the other building.

we had an engineer out who couldn't find a fault but did order new routers anyway. I changed the router in the main building on Tuesday afternoon and had to reset it weds morning (but I think it had stopped working before 6pm that night) and I changed the router in the other building yesterday morning and my manager had to reset it this morning and now our fob door won't lock (it's a secure domestic abuse refuge so a huge security breach)

what are we doing wrong?! Can anyone offer any help?

main building has approximately 20-25 devices connected.

2nd building maybe 10

thanks in advance 🙂

@Claire7121

My main concern is that you say you have two routers. This is not a correct setup for any Sky broadband installation. The only scenario you should have two routers is if you have two different connections & Sky Broadband subscriptions. Is one of them perhaps a booster?

My second concern is that you are using a cheap domestic supplier for a business implementation, especially one which you mentioned is serious due to it being a 'secure domestic abuse refuge'. Really you should be using a business grade package with appropriate access points installed to sufficiently cover the building for WiFi.

@Claire7121 are you buying the standard Sky domestic broadband or their business product as the two have significant differences and use different hardware?

Re: Issues with works router

They're 2 separate accounts and we are having issues with both.

sorry I should have made it clear they are business accounts and subscriptions.

Sorry I should have made it clear. They are 2 separate business accounts using business hardware.

Re: Issues with works router

We use 2 (1 for each completely separate building) sky connect hubs for business.

@Claire7121

Okay thats cleared it up a bit more thanks.

Although this forum does not really deal with Sky business there is a few things I can suggest.

- Ensure both hubs are running on different WiFi channels are they could be clashing

- Ensure both hubs are using different SSIDs

- Try splitting the WiFi bands on the hubs to see if some devices prefer one band over the other
