Issue with City Fibre/OpenReach

I recently moved property and organised the move with sky. OpenReach where booked to do the install. Unfortunately the move got delayed and the property owner cancelled my order. Fast forward a week I was finally in and set up a new date to install my fibre this time it defaulted to city fibre. They came out to assess the property and deemed they could not fulfil my installation and cancelled my order.

I then recontacted sky to move the installation back to OpenReach, who then apparently stated they also could not complete the order - despite having an openreach ont in the house already.

So I guess this is just a question of what to do next, I believe openreach and city fibre are the only fibre providers in my area.

I want to stick with Sky to keep all my bills from one place.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Both of those networks have multiple ISPs using them.  Unfortunately it appears that the Sky sales platform just cannot place an order for service over an Openreach optical circuit at an address which is in (theoretical) reach of the CityFibre network.

Re: Issue with City Fibre/OpenReach

Yes, I would concur.  In my case I tried to move to Sky 12 months ago.  I told the sales person that it had to be an Openreach install, and who turns up?  Yes, you guessed it, Cityfibre.  The trouble is, while CF is available on paper, CF positioned their infrastructure in the street such that it cannot connect to the OR ducts.   Unfortunately, I live at the end of a communal drive shared by four people and CF would need to dig it up.  Not happening.  Could I get that point across to Sky?  Well, let's just say that I'm a BT customer now.  Naive and short-sighted really.

EDIT:  Two points.  Just so you know, you can still have TV with Sky.  I have Sky TV but over BT 150 Full Fibre.  Secondly, I'd appreciate it if you keep us informed how you get on.  In my case, there was no fibre optic infrastructure but now, of course, there is OR kit in place and working.  I'd appreciate knowing if Sky are more amenable to using an OR connection, if it already exists, for the next time I renew.

Re: Issue with City Fibre/OpenReach

Yes, seems like we have had similar problems

I have gone with a different supplier who use city fibre also, so will see how that pans out.

I have sky TV - the satellite version though.

I would just of liked to have everything under one bill.
