Is this a phone line or not, do I need one

I'm needing to move at short notice and the house I am moving in to I can't seem to see a BT line, but there is this plastic white box thing on the wall, the current internet I have with sky I believe uses the phone line, am i right in thinking this house does not have one then? What do I do if I am booking a sky engineer to move house, do they know if there is a phone line there or not as I have my landline plan with sky too

@Tracy24582  That is a Virgin Media connection point.  Sky can't use that.

So does that mean I would have to get a new bt line in order to have my internet with sky?

Yes, an Openreach copper line or optical fibre.

Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which provisioning type is applicable.

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

have no idea what that means!! Main thing I'm wondering is will I have to pay to have new bt line installed?

No, you don't pay.  If it's a rental you'll need the permission of the owner for drilling and cabling though.  The work will be ordered by Sky but carried out by Openreach (not 'BT') and you'd be getting a copper line rather than fibreoptic cable.

The difficulty comes if there's been an Openreach connection in the past which has been removed: Sky will attempt a remote reactivation of that account without booking installer attendance.

Realistically, yes, particularly in a rental property.
