Is this a Scam Number?
Hello so my grandad just got a call to his mobile and we're not sure on his landline too from this lady who said she was from SKY.
She called from the number 0333 4439 830. And well she asked for our name, postcode, first line of adress and then our security question. We gave them to this lady and she got up our bills and such and said we're not on a contarct and would have to change our bill thing. Is this real or not??
I've been trying to find a number to call sky direcrtly but I can't find it.

Re: Is this a Scam Number?
On the 'who called me' website that number is associated with broadband scams.
Firstly you need to call Skyband change your telephone password and tell them what information you're given out.
call Customer Services by dialling 150 (free) from either a Sky mobile or your Sky Talk landline.
All calls will start automated which may offer you the online help route or try to send you here to the forum. Stay on the line as long as possible and saying nothing when asked the reason for the call sometimes helps being put in the queue for an agent.

Re: Is this a Scam Number?
@John497 Although sky are actively calling customers, that is NOT the correct way for them to ask you all that information. Will find the help and link it for you! I did have a call 2nd one although was displayed as +44 800 but called sky to verify, and even when they called back 1 week later would STILL not give any details, they want me to buy, they better have some inclining off who i am! Also complained and registered on the feedback but that is about as much good as a chocolate teapot!

It is 150, not 105 and is free from your landline should you have a handset attached to it.

Re: Is this a Scam Number?
Okay I found the phone number we needed to call on the help section. We called them and the guy we spoke to said that it was them who called earilier and we spoke to the right people. But well just whished they sent like a letter or something before hand so we can figure out what we're doing.

Re: Is this a Scam Number?
Yeah apparently it was really them who called us. I'm just confused on it all really. Like no letter or anything before hand to like let us know that like "Hey you'll be getting a call about this from this number" or something

Re: Is this a Scam Number?
Sky have never send letters or emails in advance of calling. Letters take ages to arrive, if they arrive at all 🙄
With any unexpected calls from Sky if the caller asks for your telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which a genuine Sky agent should) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it'll be a scam call.

Re: Is this a Scam Number?
A telephone password is just that. It's a password that you're asked for in calls to and from Sky and other methods of contact to verify your identity. If you haven't already set one up call ask and when prompted for it say you've forgotten it. An agent can agree a password with you for the future. Keep a note of it.
