Is my wifi on or off?

My Sky/Now BB came with the older SR203 router. I currently & always use a wired connection, as I prefer it for various reasons.

Does anyone know how I can tell for sure that the wifi is off, as I definitely do NOT want it to be on in the background.

I can`t see any on/off switch on the router. So how can I be certain that it`s permanently turned OFF?

Should I perhaps email the Sky team regarding whether it`s on or off???

You should be able to login to the router to turn off the wireless broadcasting of the router so that no wireless devices will be able to see or connect to your connection:

https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband-Talk/Accessing-your-router-settings-page-192-168-0-1/ba-p/264...

It should be under the Wireless section :

Enable Wireless Access Point - make sure this is unticked.

Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID) - make sure this is unticked.

No-one has put a physical switch on a router for a very long time.

As @caesarome indicates, there's a software setting, and by default you'd see a Sky SSID being broadcast if WiFi was active (although you'd need a wireless device to detect this)

Note: I switched to Ethernet due to being worried that constant bombardment with 5g wireless radiation (6g coming soon) might endanger my health and cause cellular damage to the body.

5G ('fifth generation') cellular network broadcast from towers and masts is completely different to 5Ghz domestic WiFi.  The apparent similarity is an unfortunate coincidence in nomenclature.

I've moved your post out of the public forum because that external link isn't appropriate here.

Re: Is my wifi on or off?

Hi

This is what I want to know also.  Please let me know if you find a way.  I only use Ethernet cable and Sky don't provide an on/off Wifi button on their routers.  I was told to go into my Admin but I can't find it.   At the moment I sm switvhing off the whole lot at nght but I want Wifi off permenantly.
best regards. Z

Re: Is my wifi on or off?

It's the white Max one.
I found a way in to the gateway and I think I have turned it off - I will check regularly though as I have been told they often switch it back on!

@zedk as it sounds like you found the switch is in the My Sky app but note there are 2 bands both need switching off. They should remain switched off  unless the hub is reset.

Re: Is my wifi on or off?

Hi Chrisee,

Thanks for taking the time, but I`ve now sorted the problem out. To anyone (including you forum assistant guys) with a Sky problem, i highly recommend doing a quick DuckDuckGo search, as you`ll pull up tons of detailed info on anything and everything.

Regards

Re: Is my wifi on or off?

Many thanks.  Yes, I found two things to turn off.  I have also denied Sky access to control it remotely (!)
