I replaced BT 150mbps with 500mbps Sky Ultrafast Plus. Speed is good but I am quite disappointed with poor parental / time controls and clearly weaker wi-fi range.
So now thinking about buying 3rd party router with good parental and time management (turning off WiFi after specific time and time used on device) and good range (beamforming)
I am thinking about ASUS RT-AX5400. Would it work with direct connection to ONT? Is this good router for what I want?
I appreciate that this is very common question, but couldn't find answer for this particular router.
Thank you!
Daniel

All asus rt ax models should work directly connected to the openreach in the ul ont. Simply locate client identifier (option 61) and enter
anything@skydsl|anything
And enter MTU 1500 or accept the default value of 1492

Hi, I have just bought the ASUs rt-ax5400 to use with sky fttp. My issue is I cannot locate where to find the DHCP OPTION 61 in the asus app. I have checked that the firmware is up to date. Any help would be great!! Thanks in advance! @cookiemonsteruk

@Bhams198888 you need to use a web browser interface not the app to find those settings.

Hi @cuke thanks for the reply! So for that do I need to hard wire a laptop to the computer? Is there then a website to go to to get to that interface?

You need to login to the webpage for the router, instructions here
https://www.asus.com/support/faq/109928/
You will need the admin username and password, username is usually admin.
Once in its a question of finding the settings you need to change.
I am in the market for a new router, would welcome feedback on how you get on and if its an improvement over the SKY HUB.

No you can do it from wireless, just type in the ip address of the router into the browser heading.
