Internet problems with sky broadband

Anyone have the amber light on for Internet? I've tried resetting but no joy.

@StuPete

The first thing to check is this link to see if there are any outages in your area:
https://www.sky.com/servicechecker

If there isn't try running the line test here:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-diagnostic-start

You can also run the test via the MySky app on a mobile data connection.

After this has finished and if it reports back all is good click on broadband to run an updated test. If you get amber or red please follow the on screen instructions.

If this is of no help give Sky a call to report it to them.

Yes there have been several posts tonight with the same problem. All seem to have happened around 8.45 pm.

Almost exactly that time! Just rang them - a message said there was a problem around then and to unplug for 30 secs then try again....doing that now.

Have tried unplugging and resetting numerous times but nothing helps.  Having to hotspot off of mobile now.

@JN7 as Sky have around 6 million broadband customers it is inevitable some will lose connection at any one time. Most outages affect a small area or an individual line so it is highly unlikely your issue is connected to other reports unless you live very close to them. When there is an outage affecting a larger area believe me the forum will go ballistic .

Openreach do report most area outages reasonably quickly to Sky which is how the service checker can tell you that they are aware of a problem. However a fault affecting a single line or even a small number of connections wont be known until someone reports the fault. In practice reporting a fault after business hours or the next day makes little difference when it gets checked.

Re: Internet problems with sky broadband

  • There seems to have been a spike in outages/reported problems yesterday evening.  Having spoken to sky for almost 3 1/2 hours this afternoon, they cannot work out the problem so sending an engineer out on Thursday so no Internet until at least then.  Not ideal when you work from home and your kids are needing to revise for their A-Levels and GCSEs (most school work/resources are digital!)
