Internet outage

I work over night and my internet has just gone off. All it says on the Sky website is that there is a power outage. I can't even get onto the page for updates because it seems as though the Sky website isn't working correctly. Such a nightmare and a loss of wages. Really not impressed. I know sometimes things happen but really? A big company such as yours should have this all sorted out by now.

You aren’t talking to Sky on here as this is primarily a customer helps customer forum so there’ll be no contact from Sky as a result of you posting on here. I'm not sure what you expect Sky 'to have sorted by now'? The cause could be almost anything and might just be routine maintenance. Working from home, during the day or overnight, does not guarantee you a better connection. For that you'd probably need a business connection at a much higher monthly cost.
If it's still down later Sky sometimes update their Twitter page

@LMcC1234If you are always working from home, you might think about business broadband, rather than using domestic home broadband.

Quite often work will be done to either the Sky network or Openreach network overnight to avoid disruption to the majority of users. Sky have no obligation to warn you of these works and it would require a lot of overhead to notify users everytime of Openreach or Sky maintenance.

If you rely on your broadband to work overnight and incur loss of earnings if its down then I suggest you move to a business broadband option.

@LMcC1234 to be honest no broadband service including business lines are 100% immune from overnight maintainance best case would be given prior warning.

@Chrisee

Yeah the idea of business broadband is to be warned of outages, possible compensated and likely have a mobile broadband backup.

@jamesn123 forgot about the mobile back up that services like Sky's Connect package for small business offer. Somehow dont think anyone gets a prior warning though when Openreach reconfigure a frame at the exchange though call me cynical. 😉
