Internet is dropping due a local problem

Internet is dropping due to be a local problem it seems according to Facebook, never know when it is going to happen. I have checked the phone when it happens and that is still working, change the microfilter just in case. Considering switching to my TP-Link MR600 for internet access for my SKY Q base unit and lose the SR203 hub. I notice that someone has linked their SKY Q system to a Vodafone Broadband router possibly solving the connection errors on YouTube so as the MR600 can be setup it seems with a split WIFI. Might even try using the same user name and password initially on the guest channel. Shame I cannot use the WAN port on the SR203 hub.

@davidgc Sky Q will work with most mobile broadband services but the Q boxes will not act as wifi hotspots as thry do with a black Sky hub. Follow the instructions here https://www.sky.com/help/articles/setting-up-sky-q-connect-to-third-party-router

i would not expect the Sky hubs to work in a Double NAT set up behind another router but then again. I have never tried it but they are heavily  locked down.

I assume you have run the service checker in the My Sky app to see if Sky are aware of the issue you talk about. If thecapp doesnt tell you thet are aware give them a call.

Re: Internet is dropping due a local problem

Thanks for your comments, have set my MR600's second wifi channel up with the same SSID as my sky wifi with an added "-1" ready to change over, will try powering the SKY hub down and then remove the "-1" on the MR600's second wifi channel and see what happens. I think it will connect OK but may have to to ensure I get the app's etc working.

Re: Internet is dropping due a local problem

We still have the problem, the Sky Q hub is showing all green lights but no actual internet, in summary status it is indicating broadband connected, Sky Q Main box is say no internet connection. This has happened over the last few weeks then all of a sudden the Sky Q Main box will come back on line. There has been no changes to the various system running with in the house. I can connect the Sky Q Main box to my Archer MR600 and get a perfect connection but then no use as I cannot access the Sky apps.

Re: Internet is dropping due a local problem

In fustration turned all the Sky Q equipment off, left for 5 minutes, coffee break, turned it all back on and everything is on including the Internet without doing / touching anything. Makes one want to put a hammer thro' it. I still would like to be able to use my MR600 but would like to know how to get the apps working thro' it as this unit is over 20 times faster than the Sky Q hub and cheaper than Sky fibre. Thinking about dropping Sky if this carries on along with the price rise.

@davidgc Glad you got your issue resolved but as you have found there is a reason why virtually every technical support script includes the step of rebooting equipment often to the annoyance of the customer it's  because that step often clears faults. Aplies to every provider not just Sky by the way.

Re: Internet is dropping due a local problem

Yep, as a retired engineer who as part of my job built industrial computers, programed HMIs and PLCs, I will have to get my thinking head back on and have a play with the setup of my MR600 and look at the Hub setup.

Re: Internet is dropping due a local problem

All I am getting is "There's an outage in your area - We're working on getting you back up and running. It usually takes a couple of days to fix things like this but might be sooner." couple of days that is a laugh, more like 3 weeks.

Re: Internet is dropping due a local problem

Did you manage to get YOUR issue solved did you, and if so, HOW,  because I have been in a similar circus for a little while now, too- have had the openreach guy out who apparently 'fixed the issue ', which they forgot to tell my CONNECTION, as have had no noticeable change since this 'fix'....

Re: Internet is dropping due a local problem

Sorry, still no answer to my two problems,  there is still  an outage in area regarding the broadband, hence no internet, if I try and use my MR600 dual band router the Sky Q main box connects to it within seconds with a great connection but the apps will not work.  Ho hum, getting fed up with Sky.
