Internal Cable To ONT Installation

I want the engineer to run the internal fibre cable about 10m around the wall from the point of entry, which I understand they will do. My problem is I have very heavy furniture blocking access to the skirting in the bay window and for most of the way around to the place where the ONT can be put onto the wall. Will the engineer be willing to drop the cable behind the furniture rather than having to pin it to the skirting? He will be able to pin it below the place I want the ONT but not for most of the run.

@Fibre-Elf Loop and swoop at a corner, but you are correct far easier to do it with an Ethernet cable pinned along to your location.

You can ask on the day, but I'd imagine they'd be reluctant to do so.

@Fibre-Elf The Fibre cable is not like running a copper extension cable, there can be NO SHARP bends in the Fibre whatsoever, is there a better route outside for the external cable to go across and straight in, the OR Engineer will want the Fibre Cable protected that is what they do!

No, it's got to come in on the side of the house, not running across the front!  I'll just have to have the ONT placed on the wall where it comes in and buy an  ethernet cable to go around to where I want the hub. I don't know what they mean when they say they can position the hub up to 10m away from where the fibre enters the property if they cannot negotiate corners though. Doesn't make much sense to me. Or maybe it's not fibre that comes in?

@Fibre-Elf

It's an optical pigtail (single strand) from external CSP to internal ONT.

Fibre can go round corners: it just cannot do so as a sharp right-angle.

Re: Internal Cable To ONT Installation

Thank you for that. In theory then, it should be fine to go around the bay to the wall opposite the entry point. It is just a matter of whether the engineer will allow it to just lay on the floor behind the various pieces of furniture where it will not ever be disturbed, rather than fixing it to skirting or wherever. In fact, it would have fewer angles to negotiate. I wanted to get an idea if this would be allowed in advance of the day so I can get the room ready. If it is definitely not permitted to just drop it behind the furniture, I needn't move stuff out of the way.

Re: Internal Cable To ONT Installation

Space cleared in the corner of the room where the ONT is to go on the outside wall and a 10m ethernet cable ordered so I can put the Sky Hub on the opposite side of the room.  Thanks for all your help. I'm all sorted for the installation next week and can't wait!
