Internal CSP?
OPen Reach are fitting the CSP. I want an internal CSP, they won't fit it. Will the SKy engineer who comes to fit the ONT bring the external cable into the house and fit an internal CSP?

Re: Internal CSP?
@Tightscot the Standard fitting is an external CSP where the fibre from the street is terminated. The ONT is fitted in the home and a hole drilled in the external wall, the enginerr usescwhat is lnown as fibre pigtail, cable that has a fitment that pliugs into the oNT and is run to the external CSP which has a fitment where roughly a metre of both cables are coiled and the two ends joined using thecfusion splicing kit the enginerrs carry - the join has to be absolutely square and free from any contamination.
There is no reason for a second CSP and as with the old copper system the fibre supply including the ONT brlong tomOpenreach. Where Sky engineers install the kit they are doing it under licence from Openreach. There is limited flexibility on location etc which you can discuss with the engineer but the basic install does not allow for cable runs iinsidecthe property etc.

Re: Internal CSP?
Yep, thanks for that. I don't want a second CSP, just an internal one. I spoke to Sky, their policy is to only fit them to listed buildings. So concluded the installation of the CSP was for their convenience, not the customers. Appreciate that it's probably more of a faff for the installers but ............................

That's essentially correct. Calling it a Customer Service Point* doesn't mean it's intended for customer convenience.

Re: Internal CSP?
You might still get lucky on the day. If the installer happens to have an internal CSP on the van, they may be wiling to fit it. Kettle on & the good biscuits on offer as soon as they arrive might help things along...

Re: Internal CSP?
Open reach were perfectly happy to install the CSP. It was Sky who said they wouldn't connect the ONT internally unless I lived in a listed building.

Re: Internal CSP?
Happy to be corrected but I didn't think Sky installed CSPs, only ONTs? So Openreach will run the fibre to the property & install the CSP & then Sky might install the ONT.

Sky has a small percentage of its own field staff qualified and certified by Openreach to carry out stage 1 (CBT at pole or duct to CSP) installation, as well as far more doing stage 2 (CSP to ONT)
Edit: actually it may be just pole work rather than ducts. Sky does have a long-standing relationship with ladders...

Re: Internal CSP?
You're right. Open reach install CSP. then Sky are booked to install ONT. Open reach guy (who was really helpful) said they'd leave me an internal CSP box and enough cable so Sky could connect it all internally.
Sky said they wouldn't do that and the CSP had to be fitted externally.
Anyway, we figured out a solution on the position of the CSP so Openreach did their thing (externally) and Sky are happy that the CSP is external. We're happy that the cable runs are out of sight.
So all ended well.
