Intermittent Wifi

We've had Sky Broadband for years.

No change in usage, no additional,/new equipement, no routers or boosters moved or obscured.

I set up a 2.4mHz 'channel' that runs the ring doorbell, everything else is on a ??5Mhz channel. This has worked fine for 2yrs.

Intermittently the coverage drops through the floor-TV won't stream, can't open web pages on phone/computer. This has been happening more and more over the last month.

MySky App consistently says all is fine, 150MBPS+. I've used the app to test all elements of the system and it reports all is fine.

However testing Speed on various phones and computer and we are getting at most 1-2MBPS d/l and up to 6MBPS u/l.

I've turned off the router multiple times. I've turned off the booster multiple times. This doesn't make a difference.

Please help as I'm tearing my hair out. Router must be 5-6 years old, is it on its way out?

Thanks in advance!

@ACW2 by splitting the two WiFi bands you could inadvertently be causing the issue. While the 5GHz band can carry more data  its higher frequency means it has far less range than the 2.4GHz band and even a minir move of furniture canndisrupt coverage. Given most Ring devices bought in the last few years will happliy connect to a dualband WiFi signal even though they only use the 2.4GHz band once connected undoing the split could help those devices that can use both bands.

If that doesn't  help you could add Sky's WiFi Max bundle to your sub which would get you a new hub and access to up to 3 WiFi extenders. However, these newer hubs dont allow band splitting. See https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max
