Installing internet for the first time

Want to instal broadband for my mum. House doesnt have internet. Do i need an engineer to install

You will require an engineer visit due to the fact that fibre requires a small box to be installed outside of her home where the cable comes inside and then inside an optical network terminal (ONT) where the broadband hub plus into needs to be installed.

If the address is in reach of either the Openreach or CityFibre optical network then installation is as @caesarome described.

 

If it's in an area where FTTP is not yet available then connection is over the 'phone line' (copper pair) and can only carry much lower speed.
