Will I still be charged for it?
Do I need to send it back?

To receive a booster on loan you'd typically be paying a subscription supplement: either Broadband Boost or Max WiFi.
You'd need to review the additional benefits gained by having the supplement and decide if it's value for money without a booster.
I'd suggest not sending anything back if you decide to keep paying the supplement: unsolicited returned hardware may well be misplaced.
