I am trying to purchase a sky broadband package for my house and it won't allow me.

So long story short, family has moved out and I am trying to take over the bills and pay for my own sky broadband package. The previous bill payer has called support and cancelled his subscription and then called support again to try and unlink his email account from the house address so that I can then in turn buy my own package. Every time I do it I get this error message.

Also I logged into his account and it's not linked to any addresses now because he is not using it anymore so I fail to see how this is even possible. I need to get this sorted quickly and having to ask the community is frankly embarrassing but here I am. And yes I have called three sky numbers to deal with this naturally the lines are closed until an earlier time of day. Any advice would be welcome before I simply go with EE or another company because frankly this is pathetic.

Just checked on the previous bill payer account and it literally says no adress is linked to it...utterly baffled.

@Rich6907 you will need to call Sky whose lines are opening now. A new order cannot normally be accepted until the old service is cancelled as you cannot have 2 services on one line. It looks like the cancellation had not been processed when you checked online. If you call Sky today they will be able to advise on how to get your new service set up quickly. There is a 10 working day lead time.

And what number should I use? Every number I try immedietly rejects me because I am not already a customer when I am literally trying to give them money.

This entire process is heavily flawed against new potential customers.

@Rich6907   You can call on 150 from a Sky Talk Line or Sky Mobile.

If you haven't got a current Sky Mobile or Sky Talk this link should help:
(UK) https://www.sky.com/help/home Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0333 number
(ROI) on the same link change the flag in the very bottom corner to the ROI flag to obtain an 0818 number.

Stay on the line and don’t hang up if prompted to. Apparently the quieter times to ring are just after 7am or about 9pm.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

If you hide your number before calling then it will let you through without thinking you are an existing customer
