I'm waiting for the upgrade to my WiFi. Had 2 texts informing me that there's a delay but heard nothing since 1 August

I assume you mean broadband rather than WiFi.
If it's in the UK, putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable and may highlight a reason for delay.
