Home wired network help - ONT location
Good evening,
I have recently moved into a new property and I have signed up to Sky Fibre. The Sky router is in the front porch as that is where the ONT is located.
I am currently using Wi-Fi for: Sky Stream, a laptop for home working and a few other connected devices. I am now looking to maximise the home network but have some queries…
In the airing cupboard on the first floor is a Network Switch which is setup with Cat 6 Ethernet cables to link to a number of Data Points around my house (bedrooms, office, living room, dining room and extension).
I would like to make use of the network switch so that I can utilise the wired network setup in the house. However I am not sure the best way to connect the Sky router in the porch to the network switch in the airing cupboard. I don’t really want to be drilling holes and pulling up floorboards.
A few ideas I am considering (but have no idea if these would work effectively): Wireless access points, mesh system, Powerline adapters, Wi-Fi extenders?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Home wired network help - ONT location
You can relocate the router anywhere in the property by using an ethernet cable as I'm sure you know. But this is the only way to ensure the speed received at ONT is reflected in that at the router. Using power line or mesh systems wouldn't wash unfortunately...
Your other option would be to pay to have the ONT relocated into a position that makes getting an ethernet cable from its new position to the airing cupboard in the first floor.

Re: Home wired network help - ONT location
@RBERRY to add to what @Giggsy1977 says the WAN connection from the ONT to the hub must be o completely separate from the LAN connection from the hub to your devices so cannot share a switch. Given that while Powerline might work it must also be a direct link. A direct Ethernet cable is strongly recommended perhaps ran externally using suitable cable.
