Activation date change

Hi! I am moving into a new home and we decided to go with Sky as a broadband provider.

I ordered it online and I received an email saying my activaton date will be 6th June and also said no need for an engineer .

However, I received a text message to say

' Hi. Your Sky Broadband will be connected on 14 June. It's all done remotely, so no need to wait for an engineer. To track your order, go to Sky.com/ordertracking-comms'

If I click to the link nothing comes up and also I downloaded the MySky app and I cant track anything. It is very frustrating that I am not able to speak to a person. I am working from home and its essential for me to have wifi . We already moved in and I am on holiday so for now I am good with my mobile data but I dont know why they changed the date from 6th to 14th with no explanation.

Also the router hasnt arrived yet... I was told it will be here in 3 days.

Again, I can't track anywhere.

Hub delivery is timed for a couple of days before the activation date: where this date is moved prior to despatch, it will be adjusted accordingly.

Unfortunately delayed activation isn't unusual, particularly for new FTTP provision: typically the wait is for Openreach resource availability.

Also as @TimmyBGood mentioned yesterday in another post it would be a good opportunity to remove huawei ont's from its core network which would require an engineer visit to your property

I'm unclear if the government instruction to remove Huawei equipment extends to what must be millions of end-user ONTs: BT Wholesale / Openreach are on record as saying just masts, cabinet hardware and exchange equipment will take a decade to swap out without compromising connectivity.

I was about to add that the deadline had lapsed but like the demise of pstn is starting with customers changing provider and moving address it would make it logical that removal of exchange equipment etc would follow the same path

'Limiting to 35%' could just mean not deploying any more Huawei ONTs rather than removing existing hardware: it just depends how much was out there at the time.  The availability of the Nokia alternative was something of an issue though.

Frankly elements of the government pronouncement were fairly nonsensical (the 'Digital' Secretary of State had something of a track record in that respect ; ) and may have been more to do with supporting the Americans politically than actual practicalities.
