Have been in touch with Wiser since upgrading to Sky Max Hub I cannot reconnect the app and device to Wi-Fi.
wiser have sent this and it means nothing to me.... how do I check my broadband settings for this 2.4 and 5Ghz?!? Tried to look online at my Sky broadband account and cannot find anything that makes sense.
I have amended my settings to WPA2 as suggested.
From Wiser:
The settings on each individual brand and/or router type can differ from time to time, and possibly block or inhibit the Wiser hub's ability to connect to our cloud services via your home internet connection.
Could you check the following settings in your router under admin settings (if you don't know what that means or if you're unsure how to access these settings, please contact your ISP and they can either help you do it or remotely do it for you):
- Are both the 2.4GHz network and 5GHz network using the same SSID? If so, please separate them so that their channel names are different (e.g. by putting a 5 at the end of the 5GHz network).
This may not be an option on some routers, if that is the case please check for "compatibility mode".
- What channel is the 2.4GHz network running on? If it is on auto, please change this to a manually selected network between 1-11 - preferably 1, 6 or 11.
Selecting the proper Wi-Fi channel can significantly improve your Wi-Fi coverage and performance. In the 2.4 GHz band, 1, 6, and 11 are the only non-overlapping channels
Adjacent-Channel interference occurs when devices from overlapping channels are trying to talk over each other. Channels that have interference from other devices are considered to be 'crowded'. The time it takes to transmit data is increased and you are left waiting for your Internet request to be made.
- What is your security encryption set as? It should be WPA2-PSK. You should be able to find this in the security settings of your router setup.

Unfortunately the Max Hub doesn't have an option to unsynchronize and rename the two different bands.

Re: Help with Wiser heat hub
The way around this for the Max hub is to disable the 5Ghz network while you connect your wiser hub, then re-enable it once its connected.

Re: Help with Wiser heat hub
Thank you for your reply.
I have a sky engineer coming out to visit next week. The Sky technician I spoke to over the phone today couldn't resolve the issue.

Re: Help with Wiser heat hub
Thank you for your reply. Sadly, I couldn't get that option to work when I used the Sky App and nor could the sky technician help over the phone today. Engineer coming out next week to look at it all physically!! jeez!! Will be glad when it's all sorted! Ridiculous with all this modern technology and it can't work 🤦♀️😂

Re: Help with Wiser heat hub
@Chris+Gilroy you should not have an issue with a Ring device as they connect to dualband WiFi unless its very old, the issue there could be down to insufficent wifi signal which is a common issue with doorbells.
The only way to connect a device like a Wiser hub thst still does not like a dualband signal after following the turn off the 5GHz attach device then turn back on the 5GHz is to buy a cheaap 2.4GHz wifi access point and use that. Modern routers need synchronised bands to achieve high speeds.

Re: Help with Wiser heat hub
Thankyou Chrisee
its been a bit of a nightmare to be honest, I've gone from the 1gb fibre via open reach with a SR203 hub (everything worked) to the new gigafast hub via city fibre and have had no end of niggles since.
I was not told that the new hub wasn't compatible with the sky Q mini boxes, shame, as although they are all connected via Ethernet, the 3 boxes previously worked as access points so had good wifi in all areas, one is in an external garage which is converted to a room, and one in a large summer house at the end of the garden (bar, tv, pool table etc).
Ive had to get a cheap AP to go in my sons room (external garage) as his mini box stopped pumping out wifi. The summer house isn't to far away so just about picks up his AP but with a much reduced wifi speed.
The SSID is different so have to reconnect when coming back indoors (I can live with that for the moment)
Ring doorbell has so far stayed connected for the last few weeks, albeit the signal is telling me it's really poor so video signal quality isn't what it used to be, even tho the new hub is in the same position as the last, about 6ft away from the doorbell as the crow flies! albeit with the external wall between them, but regardless being that close I'd expect full signal! (I can sit over the road in my car and get good signal no problem!)
External ring security cam, again, just about hanging in there but with degraded video quality, was picking up good signal previously from the mini box in the garage and or summer house. (Might try and connect that to the AP but not sure if I can have ring devices on seperate connections by device).
Ive just connected the wiser hub to the external AP as it just about picked that up, so will see how that goes, I did think about changing the SSID of the AP to that the same as the main hub to resolve the issues of having to swap connections moving from outdoors to indoors, but now if I do that I'd imagine it will cause issues again for the wiser hub as it will go with the stronger signal indoors!
Thought about turning the 5ghz off as all the devices that need the speed are hard wired, but due to the mini box issues I've had to put one of their sky "pods" on the landing to get signal around the house, and I believe I am correct in that the pod needs the 5ghz to work (certainly failed when I turned it off resulting in poor signal upstairs)
All in all, apart from the Ethernet speeds it's certainly been a rather frustrating time leaving me wondering why did I bother! 😭
Old hub is still sat boxed up ready to return and I and I am on the verge of telling Sky to swap me back!
Chris

Re: Help with Wiser heat hub
@Chris+Gilroy Ring can be seperate just so you know, have my Ring doorbell solely on a Powerline WPA as that is what it took to get the rssi for ring down to -40's range, and my AP is about 15' away through a tripple glazed and a then heavy thick wooden door, the PL is about 3' away between them both lucky i had a single socket there so that is were the PL resides!
