Re: Has sky internet just gone down?

I guess all we can do is wait this is def Sky's end. Our lines are connected to the exchange or fiber box etc i am showing a upstream and downstream speed so thats all ok. It just can't resolve a connection to Sky's network through the BT openreach network.

This is extremely annoying and happened at an annoying time for me cause i wont be asleep till 4-5am not tired and was planning on a long PS5 session. I could attempt it through my 4g hotspot but the pings are gonna be terrible.

If it's happening at the time you've all posted it's possibly maintenance related. This is done overnight to minimise disruption as most customers are asleep. If it's not back up by the time the phone lines reopen call Sky to report it.

Re: Has sky internet just gone down?

If what you say you is correct, I wonder if all us posters live in a similar area? We will find out tho soon enough, I reckon it will come back on before say mid day at latest i have been through Sky outages and the longest ones tend to last about 12-16 hours but its very rare Sky is reliable overall.

Internet downtime, it went down around 1am and its 6:28am as i type.

I already have a Engineer coming out on Tuesday for a differant reason.

As of now so time of this post etc my internet is still down i am still using 4g from 02 not Sky either.

@mrbacon overnight msintenance will have been completed given the number of reports there is a larger outage around Gloucester. If the service checker run over a mobile connection is still not reporting Sky are aware of an issue call them andcreport it.

Re: Has sky internet just gone down?

Its come back on its own. Although my speed is still terrible but that is a line fault and a engineer is due out for that.

Re: Has sky internet just gone down?

My next broadband bill is free because of the speed guarantee and my line being so so so so sooooooooo super slow for a month now and all through christmas. My line has shot down from 35meg to 20meg or so and my min speed is 30meg  and highest 46meg but i never get close to that.

I used to get 40meg then in 2016 or so it dropped to 35meg and never recovered and then over christmas this year it dropped to 25meg and never recovered and a engineer is coming out now.

But yeah everyone on here should find there internet is working again if it was to do with this sky outage. Its back now even for me on my dodgy line.

You're quite fortunate to get any attention at all: increasingly Openreach is abandoning legacy copper infrastructure as it pushes resources into the national FTTP rollout.

It's possible Sky will simply offer to release you from any remaining minimum term if the 'guaranteed' speed (which isn't a guarantee at all) cannot actually be delivered.

Re: Has sky internet just gone down?

If they cant fix it and bring my speed backup to 35meg at least i will be moving to my only option Gigaclear fast upto 900meg but terrible reviews apparantly its like marmite but instead of rather hating it or loving it, it either works perfectly or doesn't nothing inbetween and issues can take months to sort out. My plan is to get Gigaclear and make sure its working BEFORE i cancel sky and have both running at the same time at least for a short while.

My only other option would be Starlink but the price of Starlink is severe AND its not even guaranteed to be faster than 25meg Starlinks website says its speed is 25meg to 200meg   so quite a bizzare speed range.

I'd suggest that's inherent to all FTTP: it doesn't really have the 'in-between' fault conditions which degrade broadband over copper.
