Green cabinet FULL - Really in 2024 ??
Was moving to new flat, in the same town, just 1 min drive down the road...
Phoned and emailed all business's needed to change things over, signed new lease, and just had to tell sky that i moving broadband...
Never had ANY problem before in past when moving home and taking my sky bb with me in the SAME TOWN.
Input my new detail's into the sky page to see if i can get any better speeds > BROADBAND UNAVAILABLE AT THIS ADDRESS !
I,m like what ! - Must be mistake, as like said, only moving i min drive down the road...
After much phoning sky to see wth was going on, they said > the cabinet if FULL !..
I,m like it 2024.
They said, "you cant even get essential bb" ( crappy bb ) at this address,AND there is a waiting list for this cabinet..
Essentail bb is no good to me anyhoo, as i have a home full of smart things, and game online, so need the 76D - 18U fttc speeds i have now...
Sky also said no point in trying other suppliers, cause they will just tell me same thing.
How the hell can this be possible in 2024 ?
The town is only around 7000 folk, and is served by 3/4 green cabinets..
Some parts of town have ultrafast bb installed, others only superfast, as i have in present address..
Hell the "village" with 170 folk 5 miles away, in middle of nowhere, has full fibre with 500dl or something.
So had to cancel my home move and go about the PITA of contacting all business's again...
Not happy at all sky

Re: Green cabinet FULL - Really in 2024 ??
Why your blaming Sky here is beyond me. Openreach build and manage the cabinets and all ISPs just feed of them. If the cabinet is full this is an Openreach issue for the area, not a Sky one.
When Openreach build out FTTC infrastructure they never build enough capacity for the whole area because there is the assumption that not every single premises will order FTTC. If your area is oversubscribed it can take weeks, to months, to years for a slot to open up or more capacity installed. Additionally with the drive for FTTP at the moment its more likely that Openreach wont even increase capacity for FTTC in the area in favour of installing FTTP.
Myself & Others offer our time to help others, please be respectful.
