Gigafibre

Hey folks,

my Virgin contract is coming up and they have drastically increased the price, not even willing to offer me a deal either.  Im about to talk to Sky about their Broadband but wanted to ask a question of the users first:  Is it the case that the Sky Q and mini boxes act as repeaters and can in some cases override the routers wifi signal to the device so that you're using the Q rather than the router?

I see lots of complaints about speed and signal range etc, but this is the case whichever provider you use.

Yes, but the Q Mesh dates back to 2016, and really isn't up to slinging gigabit speeds (or anything remotely close) around a property.

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

For Ultrafast 2 and Gigabit FTTP a better solution is a modern mesh system with each Q television box connected over ethernet to a mesh node (and Sky WiFi switched off)
