Re: Gigabit fttp, high latency and packet loss

I'm not home at the moment, but if it is the router at fault surely I would have packet loss at the first hop, not 3rd which is sky's servers, its always 3rd onwards, its very frustrating also as my speeds have never been over 400MiBs, I have my 4th visit tommorrow from a sky engineer, hopefully shine some light on this, failing that I'll choose another isp, been with sky 20+ years and there service has gone down hill.

Re: Gigabit fttp, high latency and packet loss

@xxiphxx2k

Thank you, my conclusion is that the router stats show the broadband WANoE link is up and data flowing over the period the router was running and the optical data link is fine since the new router went into service today.

Can you post a BQM for a couple of days so we can see whether that shows anything?

And can you check the internal LAN cables if not done already?

Re: Gigabit fttp, high latency and packet loss

A Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) can be run from the think broadband infrastructure to your public IP address to see whether ICMP packets are lost to multiple locations or just to the game server, eg: the fault would then be a broadband exchange or server infrastructure.

But it does look like congestion from your other proof.

To solve it quickly it needs a change of ISP! 😎
