Re: Full fibre installation

Theoretically, as it is used to authenticate the ONT...but I'm damned if I can read it.

Re: Full fibre installation

As I said, theoretical and lot more difficult to implement than most people think.

It's not a good idea to avertise things like house address, public IP, MAC addresses, phone numbers etc. as a matter of principle, though.  You never know who might be reading it.

Re: Full fibre installation

@Anonymous You want me to tell you exactly what the serial number is!

Re: Full fibre installation

I'm having fibre installed and the Openreach enginner fitted a small grey box to the front of the house. I informed himthat we didn't want the ONT in the room adjoining but he assured me that the Sky engineer could run a fibre connection from the box to the location required. The following week the Sky engineer arrived on time but was only willing to place the ONT in the room adjoining the connecton box. He then left. I then spent much time telephoning Sky without a conclusive answer but got the impression they wanted to pass the problem back to Openreach.

I challenged an Openreach engineer working across the road who said this was a common problem but Sky could run a fibre cable around the house to a convenient point which I showed him. He said it shouldn't be a problem for a willing Sky installer who should be carrying 50m of suitable fibre cable.

I feel I'm having to negociate between Openreach and Sky which surely is wrong. All I want is a good job.

Re: Full fibre installation

@E_H You are going to be having a time with it now, better let the sky CS team put in the notes what is to be involved with the installation final part, that way NO surprises when/if they turn up again.

Re: Full fibre installation

Sky Engineer came 3 weeks ago to carry out Full Fibre connection at Skys suggestion to an upgrade.  Yesterday sky engineers came out to transfer us from Super Broadband to Full Fibre. Engineers did not check if the Full Fibre connection was active prior to starting works. Proceeded to disconnect our Broadband, dug up driveway, drilled holes in walls (breaking bricks) etc only to discover they then could not connect to Full Fibre as the previous engineer had left the necessary connection to Full Fibre on the main  road unconnected to anything at all!!! Engineers left saying they could not complete the job and we have now been left with no internet ! Our house and business is at a stand still and Sky sent an email saying they would be in touch within 27 days!! Having called to complain we are just being given excuse after excuse that they will pass on our complaint! Absolutely appauled by the lack of duty of care for their customers and complete negligence!

@Ferris2

Your duplicate thread (which is just an image of your post here) has been removed. No need for two.

As Sky broadband discussed on the forum is a domestic service I'm afraid it's not relevant that you want to use it to run your business.

edit for typo

Re: Full fibre installation

Unsurprisingly yet another completely unhelpful action from a Sky representative! It was not a duplicate discussion as the original post was originally posted in error as a reply to a members post and not as a individual discussion as intended!

Re: Full fibre installation

Furthermore the business was only one inconvenience that Skys complete negligence has caused which you have failed to recognise
