Full fiber installation question

I'm returning to Sky and getting full fiber installed. I was a bit surprised to hear that there may need to be some physical installation - drilling into my flat and potentially some digging. I live in a top floor flat in a converted Victorian house in London.

On the openreach site, it says "Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential OH External CBT Complex L2C." and that the fttp installation process is one stage.

As I rent, I'll likely need to contact the landlord. Can anyone explain, based on the above, what the installation is likely to consist of? Want to give the landlord as much and as accurate information as possible.

Huge thanks in advance!

@rsp102 although there are 3 flats in the buillding Openreach are not treating it as a MDU - Multiple Dwelling unit instead they will install 3 fibre lines one for each flat as and when orders are place. Each line will tun from a nearby pole to the external wall of your flat and a hole will be required to be drilled to tge new ONT internally. You do need to contact your landlord and the freeholder of the building who could be the same person to get permission. You may want to point out that a fast internet connection increases the the value of the property and with holding permission will mean at some point the flat will lose its line entirely.

Re: Full fiber installation question

Oh! It's three flats in the building, one per floor.

Also not sure why I called it fiber and not fibre, apologies!

Re: Full fiber installation question

@rsp102 Use the BTW address checker to see if available at the location converstions require 3 seperate lines installed. If only one shows you may be in the position to not get it. Sky also has an address checker so use also.

Re: Full fiber installation question

That's great, thanks both - really appreciate your answers!

I'll drop the landlord a note saying it should just be the drilling into the flat, and then keep my fingers crossed that the installation goes smoothly.

Re: Full fiber installation question

Hello,

I didn’t want to create a new topic with the same name.

I currently have Broadband and Talk (63 Mbps, I believe) and recently received a WhatsApp message from Sky stating that they have booked an engineer to upgrade my connection to Full Fibre 75. However, I live in a flat.

I reached out to the freeholder, who advised that Sky would need to provide installation documents or proposals before they can approve it. I’m not sure how to obtain this information from Sky.

I would be very grateful for any help or guidance.

Thank you,

@JimM1Thank you for that. Unfortunately, I haven’t received any reference number via the WhatsApp message, and without it I’m unable to submit the form.
