Free fibre install - DONT BOTHRT

We had fibre installed yesterday and we've been having issues ever since. They're sending a new mini box as they think that's an issue (even though it was fine before the engineer arrived). We now have intermittent internet connection which has never been an issue before installation. It's SO difficult to get any answers from sky and I am tired of rebooting the devices and checking connections that worked perfectly fine BEFOREHAND. I've already had to rearrange delivery of the new box because I need to be home to swap the  old 'faulty' box.

Biggest mistake ever.

just to add insult to injury.. the initial open reach engineer has drilled TWO MASSIVE holes in the front wall of our house - which were NOT used at any point of the install.

dont do it.

sky are very unhelpful and have so far just continued to pass blame. Customer service is SO hard to get hold of to discuss ANY of the above.

Given the eventual aim is to entirely replace copper 'telephone' circuits (which are a Victorian technology) that's not going to be a long term option.

Sky do not do the installation  as you have said  open reach engineers do it and also sky use open reach  lines to supplies the Internet, if you have issues  first call sky and  get them to run a speed test, secondly  contact open reach  about  the holes that were drilled in the wall, i  had full fibre to the property broadband  fitted  in January  last year  no problems  what so ever

Re: Free fibre install - DONT BOTHRT

Hi Peter, thank you for your response. We spoke to sky at length yesterday and they can see no issues from their side. WiFi has been dropping in and out all afternoon.. remaining optimistic that this may just be a temporary glitch and tomorrow it'll be all good as new!.... any other suggestions if it's the same tomorrow? Keep calling sky?

Victorian house... Victorian tech... suited I'd say. And I'll take any option over this 🙂

Re: Free fibre install - DONT BOTHRT

@TBaillie Hopefully you kept the Sky Broadband Hub with the FF upgrade, although if it moved by far it will be possible to have upset the sky Q mesh stability between all the devices if you were using the Q and mini for hotspot feature.

Hard to say what is going on without the detail supplied by yourself!
