Hello guys
I'm moving into the new property with the start of June, requested to move my connection there on the 3rd which is Tuesday.
Three days ago openreach sent me a message to see if the ONT device works okay, which I did and it worked perfectly, all lights lit up the way it should be. And then yesterday , one of the decorators while scraping the wallpaper off the wall snapped the green optic fibre cable that goes through the wall from the open reach box and connects to the ONT. this morning I immediately got in touch with openreach who told me to get in touch with sky since they can't deal with the problem unless ots
the ONT device itself. I rang sky customer service line and a very kind there told me to ring technical support to get it sorted but only after my service goes live at the new address because the team have to be able to run the test.
it's all understandable but I've a question - do you think is there any way to get this optic cable replaced before it goes live?
@AndyGinter NO is the simple answer, until sky activate the service then it is in limbo land.
Just an idea. What if he takes a photo of the damage and sends it to them, in lieu of their tests?
@Anonymous What difference is that going to make?
Well, if the problem is that they can't access the tests until the connection is activated, would a photo do in lieu of their tests to get things moving earlier? Just a thought. If it's a non-starter, fair enough.
@Anonymous The customer is not a customer until the activation date, and sky have NO way of instructing OR to go out and do a repair on the syetem that was working fine, now not due to a problem outwith everyone's control. As soon as activated, then customer get's onto sky, sky get onto OR with the request and all the delay's that go with it. Not the best but that's the way it is.
@AndyGinter In preperation for all of this and know doubt you are watching the replies, you may wish to ask sky what would be the repair cost involved for doing the repair, as sure that you do not wish to pay this out off your own pocket should a bill to you happen!
I'm quite sure I'll pay a few quid for a replacement cable and I'm fine with that. As long as the kids happy with the internet and there's no headache for me. Thanks for all your answers, I guess I have to wait until the start of next month and get it sorted then. Appreciate your help. Have a great day!
