Fibre cable but no ONT

Ordered sky and it said that I have fibre in my new property but when looking to install the sky hub I've realised that I have the green fibre cable but no ONT. How do I set up my broadband or how do I get in touch with someone at Sky to help?? Thank you!

Unfortunately without an ONT there's no way to get an FTTP connection to work:  previous occupants may have (mistakenly) taken it away with them when they moved out.

You'll need to log this as a fault with Sky for replacement by Openreach.

Re: Fibre cable but no ONT

@TimmyBGood it'd take an effort to accidentally take the ONT. If it's like ours, it'll be screwed to the wall quite securely with various wires going in and out

The notes in the link above will tell us if there was an ont.  Unfortunately many people opt for a 5 finger discount

People do though: it's the topic of repeated posts in this forum.

The newest model has a permanent printed label advising users the unit should be left in place when moving out, so it happens often enough for Openreach to feel that's necessary.

Re: Fibre cable but no ONT

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential OH Feed joint user pole. ONT exists with active service. No spare ports are available. A new ONT may be ordered. The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage. For all SOADSL services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage. Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises. In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values. If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL availability: If shown at FTTP or SOGEA premises,ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL are not available to order due to WLR Withdrawal stop sell rules. CPs should order FTTP or SOGEA. Copper products are only available by exception.

So there has been one at the address, which isn't there now.  You should call Sky tomorrow morning.

@Nigelb1972 this comes up quite frequently in the forum sometimes its just the power supply taken but often the unit goes as well.

Many people have no idea how their "WiFi" works and when told they need to take the hub grab everything  others take anything even if it is screwed down just take a look at the listings for ONTs on aBay.

It's not actually difficult to remove an ONT from a wall: the first units to be deployed had an external enclosure which was reasonably secured, but later ones just slip on and off a pair of screws (which together with the green fibre jack is the clue it was once there ; )
