Fibre broadband
Hi
i called Sky to renew my Broadband basics contract and was told I couldn't do this, that I need to take fibre 100 as the old copper lines were being phased out. But is it possible to keep my current set up until I have no other option but to switch to fibre? My current broadband service is excellent and I don't really need fabulous speeds. Could I cancel fibre installation and renew my broadband basics instead? Shirley Ann

Re: Fibre broadband
You can cancel your install yes but you'll end up having to pay the out of contract price that Sky charge for Broadband basics as they wont offer you a contract now for it without switching to FTTP.
However I wouldnt recommend this because the switch off it only around 3 months away so you may as well get sorted rather than potentially being left with no service at the other end. What exactly is your worry about the switch?

It could be you are in one of the areas where Sky cannot supply a digital voice service over a copper circuit: unfortunately where that's the case Sky will cancel the broadband entirely if the address isn't moved onto FTTP before PSTN is switched off in January 2027
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2
