Fibre Install

I'm having a nightmare with Sky/Openreach getting my Fibre line installed, does anyone have any advise on getting this resolved.

1 - placed fibre order when moving house in September

2 - visited by Openreach general body - escalated

3 - visited by Openreach complex - escalated

4 - visited by Openreach survey (wihtout an appointment and I was going out so couldn't speak to him)

5 - received a permission to work for overhead cables and cutting back trees with no actual explanation or call to discuss.

6 - declined permission to work as I dont want overhead cables, but when declining asked someone to contact me so I could discuss it further - nobody contacted me

7 - contacted Openreach PTW team via email to ask them to contact me - no response.

8 - Openreach cancelled the order.

I've then had to place the order again, and am back in the same loop, I estimate another few months of going round in circles and getting nowehere.

The current copper line runs in thorugh ducting underteath the house into a central comms cabinet, I don't see why it's an issue to run the fibre line in this same method, when speaking to the not so helpful Sky call centre they said Openreach said they dont have a cable long enough to run it underground.

It seems impossible to actually speak to Openreach to discuss in detail what the issues and solutions are, but runing a circa 30-40m overhead cable across a property with hundreds of trees is just going to cause headaches forever with cutting back and will ruin the asthetic of the property.

Thanks

@msayers1985 if you wont accept an overhead feed it is highly unlikely Openreach will agree to run an underground supply if they did they would likely to expect you to pay the cost. They are installing 80k full fibre connections each week there is very limited flexibility. If your property is listed there may be some variation if the local authority insist on it.

Given at some point your copper connection will be disconnected you would then have to use mobile broadband or something like Starlink.

No-one gets a choice in that unless, as @Chrisee indicates, they are prepared to pay the full cost of a bespoke FTTP installation outside the scope of the national rollout (typically tens or even hundreds of thousands of pounds)

If the CBTs in your area are pole-mounted then there's nothing underground to connect with fibre put in your duct even assuming that's viable for an optical cable pull.

Re: Fibre Install

@msayers1985 Keep in mind that you are a sky customer so NO openreach contact unless they wish to speak to you and that is not the general, with OR already aware, just expect the straight cancel off your order, they will not spend the time or resources to accomidate your wishes, you can do the 20k install fee to OR upfront cost, that may cover it but it may also exceed that value!
