ISPs bring broadband to tens of millions of UK addresses: at any given point in time many individual properties and some wider areas will be experiencing issues, just as they do with electricity, water and gas supply.
In the rare event that a particular ISP has a major outage or all the ISPs in an area go down, that tends to be featured in local or even national news.
