I'm also having this issue - if you are and others then it's going to be sky's problem however as they are closed and I can't get through to anyone, we wont really know the progress so I'll check back in the morning where it's hopefully resolved

A red LOS or PON light on a fiber ONT indicates a loss of the optical signal. After midnight that is likely because Openreach are doing work at your exchange on the kit that generates the optical signal. Once that work is complete the service will be restored usually will before 6am.

Sky will often not have been told about routine exchange maintenance and it only becomes an issue if the service is still down during the working day.

Sky equipment isn't exposed to rain.  Openreach infrastructure, however, is.

Re: Fiber box red light

This is pretty bad on both sky's and openreachs part. Any maintenance should be made known to both the supplier and vendor of the service, then of course the customer. Sky are at fault for not making sure this is the case and openreach are at fault for not actually just telling sky so they can relay to the customer.

In addition, sky's BB checker on the app needs to be heavily improved as it's referred to as the go to tool on various forums, when you call them etc, but more time when you use it when there's an actual fault it says all is fine, which just wastes time.

Poor from sky on these items, very poor.

I'm afraid domestic broadband subscription rates just don't accommodate that level of support: proactive notification of scheduled maintenance can be expected on a business leased line connection at around ten times the monthly cost that home users expect to pay.
