FTTP sky speeds

Hello folk,

I hope someone or more an help with  a issue i have right now with my fibre to the premises.

I was initially on 150mbps, with download speeds on any device in the region of 120-150mbps an uploads of around 30mbps. no matter how many devices i have on the speed was consistant.

As my contract was ending i chose to go up to 500mbps which was done on the same day.  since then i cannot get any more than 150mbps down load but my uploads have increased to around 60mbps.

After a lot of calls back and forth and sky admitting on their end i was only getting around 100mbps they sent out a new router.
I decided to change the ethernet cable sky installed to the ONT with a shiney new cat6 cable and my speeds have increased a bit to around 150-250 on ethernet and 200mbps on wifi.  but only on one device (any more and it slows to a crawl)

I do know the more devices you have on the slower your speeds will get.
However only one device connected via cat 6 ethernet to the router is only getting a max of now 250mbps. sky say this is correct! and the 500mbps only comes into effect on all the devices i use, (Btw only 15 Devices conected)

My computers/ laptops are capable of 1gb on ethernet and above 450 on wifi, same as phones can take 450mbps

im sorry for the long winded post but surley if i have only 1 device connected a 1gb capable device connected via cat6 ethernet i should get a speed of 500mbps or the minimum guarenteed of 400 mbps.?

Thx

Hi @trev7421

Please post a screenshot of the speedtest

Also can you confirm the device is connected directly via ethernet and there is nothing inbetween such as powerline adapters, boosters etc?

Re: FTTP sky speeds

hi @jamesn123  sorry for the late reply i have been off ill.
See the screenshots toay i took of my speeds from 2 websites, this was on a high spec laptop with gigabit ethernet using a cat 6 ethernet cable connected straight to the router, nothing else connected and a brand new hub sky sent a few weeks ago.

I have according to sky 500mbps to my router although previous tests showed 80-100mbps. the speed makes no difference if i have one device connected or several, on several the collective speeds match around the same of 150 to 190 this week.

the only issue i have since installing the new hub is the phone does not work now although it says connecte and the icon is green, shk have no idea whats the issue

@trev7421

Sounds like its a local problem Sky need to fix then. Maybe the phone not working is part of the speed issue. I would call them and report it or I can escalate your post here
