Extending WiFi into garden room

Hi, I need to extend coverage of my WiFi to the end of my garden.  What are my Options?  I can run a cable from my hub if nessessary but need to run various things off it including a mini box.

A cat 5e or cat 6 ethernet cable can theoretically be up to 100m long.  (Most working techs don’t go beyond 85m).  You can then plug a 5 or 8 port switch on the end and plug your stuff into that.  (Just make sure you use exterior grade cable).

Thank you.  I want to run everything inc the mini box/Hot Tub/ Mobile phones/Sonos from wifi.  If I run the cable up there (less than 85m) is there somthing I can plug it into for this to happen?  Sorry, just needed to be sure.   Not sure if a sky product or a 3rd party product thet will work.

If they are all connected by Wi-Fi then just connect a “Wireless Access Point”, or WAP, to the end of the cable.  Just give it an IP address in your network and the same SSID (network name) and password as the hub.

You can buy a separate dedicated WAP from Amazon etc. or modify a spare hub, (if you have one).  In the case of the latter, just turn off everything except the wireless functions.  (In particular, don’t leave the DHCP enabled, as two DHCPs in a network don’t play nice, unless you set them up as a ‘split scope’).

Putting it on a different channel to the hub is also a good idea, to avoid them interfering with each other.  If using 2.4GHz, stick to channels 1, 6 or 11.  The channels in between look attractive but can cause ‘adjacent interference’, even if they don’t cause ‘co-channel interference’.

Thank you. That really helps.  Sky have just told me that if I run an ethanet cable to a sky mini box, that wil lact as a wifi scource of WiFi so I can connect everything to that?
