Engineer visit for ultrafast

Openreach installed FTTP at my property on 12th September, including the internal work and today we placed the order with Sky to upgrade to Ultrafast Plus and were told we need a sky engineer to come out but they can't come until the 27th Oct. My question is, as we have had the external and internal work completed by Openreach, why do we need. Sky engineer? Do we not just need the new router?

thank you

@fiMty have Openreach installed a ONT unit - white box with mains connection with 4 leds and Openreach branding- when they did the work? If they did then no engineer is required however if they didn't the Sky engineer will install onecand run the fibre back to the CSP unit - grey box - and make a welded joint.

Re: Engineer visit for ultrafast

Thank you for your reply. Yes they did install a white box (see image) on the inside of the property connecting to the external box they fitted. Is this what you mean?  When speaking to Sky and they were adamant that an engineer is still required but I don't understand why?

Re: Engineer visit for ultrafast

Thank you @cookiemonsteruk

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG Duct rodded and roped.

FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

As a fibre priority exchange, FTTP has priority over other products if available at the address

As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply

SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange

For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

For all SOADSL services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.

In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.

If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service

"UG Duct rodded and roped"

Means that there may have been a congested underground duct which seems to have been resolved hopefully. Have you noticed anyone working on the man hole covers

Re: Engineer visit for ultrafast

Yes @cookiemonsteruk about a week after it was installed they came back and were doing more work. The engineers tested the line to our property from the manhole and said it was fine so they couldn't understand why we couldn't place an order. Turns out Openreach had to "commission" it before it could be ordered and it became available online this morning.  Being able to get FTTP came as a result of a complaint being made about being left out of local upgrade works which ended up with our MP at which point it was all systems go in getting it built. Seems the systems don't speak to each other though.

Only sky will be able to update you . My theory would be if its sorted internally and externally sky may still have to install their own networking equipment at the exchange
