For broadband, an 'engineer' may well not be Sky personnel.  It's much more likely they are employed by Openreach, or will be an Openreach subcontractor from Kelly, Quins or another company.

In my experience, subcontractors are not particularly good at producing ID and their clothing/van may or may not be branded.

Hi @Gardenia
If you are new to the forum then welcome to the Community which is predominantly made up of Sky customers helping other Sky customers. You aren’t actually talking to Sky by posting on here.

As customer we won't know when an engineer is likely to attend / return.

If it was the engineer and you turned them away then you've essentially failed the appointment and will have to reschedule it which may be a few more days and could cost you £25 missed appointment fee.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.
