EE reps scam?

I had 2 men with EE jackets on today come to my door. They asked who I was with and explained how sky and other providers use EE services and sell to their customers. They explained how they were upgrading the services in the area. They asked me to do a speed test and after this explained to get the new speeds they were putting in I needed to create an EE account, and sign up for one of the EE WiFi deals? I declined and said I was busy but this all seems really strange to me? They then wanted to scan a QR code after I had signed up? They didn't provide me with any ID or anything and showed up on a Saturday evening. Is this some sort of scam? Or some EE reps or associated company trying to trick people into buying EE WiFi? They were both wearing all black jumpers with an EE logo on them.

Re: EE reps scam?

BT/EE use an outfit called Money Expert for street sales. Plenty of similar reports of dodgy tactics.

Which is simply a lie: that's Openreach.

Both EE and Openreach are part of BT Group, but Openreach Limited is required to act independently and provide service equally to all ISPs, while EE is a competitor to Sky.
