Hi can anyone help.
I reciently upgrated to 300gb speed, after about a week it settled down. My PC is hardwired and right next to the skybox/router.
My connected speed back then was a good 200mbps. (about a month ago).
I have just tested my speed today and it has dropped to 90mbps. I did the usual turn off wait and turn back on. Also tried different ports.
I tested my wifi and getting 310mbps also sky help said I was getting 300+
But my PC is only getting 90mbps
The PC unit, cables fbb gear hasnt been moved, jogged or disturbed, and my settings have never been changed.
Does anyone know what the issue may be and/or a solution fix? As far as I can see there is no reason for the drop and sky test reported back that my line is good with no drops and getting what I should be getting.
Thanks for any help.

@tony302 With you now, looks like you had the old 100Mb/s cable in the box then, that has only pins 1,2,3 and 6 connected, they must have thought you had it all supplied, sometimes they just pop a new cable out with ALL the 8 pins wired as that is what is needed!

Re: Drop in connected fiber bb speed?
@tony302 Have a look at yout PC Ethernet sync properties looks like it has dropped to the 100/100Mb/s so either a hardware/properties issue or a bad Ethernet cable with a dropped connection on one off the pins.
If you have the black SR203 sky Broadband Hub, LHS Led on the Ethernet connection, Orange = 100Mb/s, Green = 1000Mb/s sync.

Re: Drop in connected fiber bb speed?
Thanks, yes I do have the SR203, and front all 4 lights are green, I have ordered a proper gigabit cable for it, as using the stock cable that came with it.

Re: Drop in connected fiber bb speed?
oh sorry,
Im sorted now. Seems SKY only supplies the standard inernet cable, This doesnt work for fiber BB and you need a cat 6 gigabit cable.
Just got one from B&Q cost £6
And now getting the full range +-10 300mbps
I have notified sky help team and he has raised a ticket about this problem.
So hopfully they will supply a proper cat6 cable with their new routers and FBB upgrades

Re: Drop in connected fiber bb speed?
@tony302 Sky does supply the cat5e connection cable which is 1000Mb/s capable, but one bad connection on it then it's toast! Got nothing to do with or the need for a cat6 cable!

Re: Drop in connected fiber bb speed?
Unfortunatly they didnt suppy it. I had the original sky package about 5 years ago or so, and just on standard BB the cable supplied and used since yesterday was the standard boxed cable. 4 wires with twin connectors.
When I upgraded to FBB about a month ago, BT installed new cables from pole to my house with external box. SKY only supplied and fitted the main line cable to the new box in house, and the only cable I recieved was the connection cable from that new box to the router unit.

Re: Drop in connected fiber bb speed?
Oh sorry my bad, just had a look at the printing on the cable does say cat.5e. Looked on the internet for a cat 5 and online shows more wires in the plug than what mine shows. Guess as you said, its an old cable so prob burned its self out

Re: Drop in connected fiber bb speed?
Just funny how the cable was able to manage 200mbps for that short time if limited to 100mbps. 200 is fine for my PC as I have a 100 spare to run the TV downstairs so the OH dont moan when the tv pauses lol

Re: Drop in connected fiber bb speed?
@tony302 Your all sorted now, sky may even just send you a replacement cat5e 2M length cable, at least if they do you will have a spare, and if so get it on and check it works!
