Download speed slower than upload speed

Today I had 5gig broadband installed. I'm connected but the speed is not very good. I'm getting faster upload speed than download speed. the speed of download isn't steady too. getting 1.1 gig upload but about 400 download. what can be the cause of it. The line in is City Fibre.

@Blossom4 What are you speed testing with, wireless wi-fi or Ethernet, and if ethernet connected what speed is the Nic interface device!

Wireless connected it's all about the device and what it is capable off in a good day!

Re: Download speed slower than upload speed

Let me give more information. Last year City Fiber installed a line into my home. I got TalkTalk 900 broadband which never worked once. Talk Talk agreed to cancel my contract. Same problem I'm having now with my Sky Broadband. Excellent wifi signal but getting them speeds mentioned in my topic starter. Sky have informed me that they have put me into a speed pool whatever that is for 7 days. I really want this service. I'm starting to think it's a faulty line or something at the exchange.

Re: Download speed slower than upload speed

@Blossom4 And so you know, you are the ONLY one so far on a City Fibre 5Gb/s speed never mind tha fact that CF is just so new to the Forum, fact that you have speed like you have 400 and 1.1 as earlier is a bonus but not what you want to hear in the slightest.

You got it, you bought it and it will be a screamer whenever it works, but just hope that all off your gear is well up to the task!

City Fibre will be going direct somewhere the exchange technology is nothing like you get with Openreach in the slightest!

Re: Download speed slower than upload speed

@Blossom4 Hope you are on a real good PC and a real good USB port with at least a 10Gbps port speed and have NO driver issues. You really should be connected on a dedicated 10Gbps Ethernet port but not many PC's out there unless gaming or purpose built, got my son's on 10G direct to a VM 10G port and all Ethernet connected and his PS5 Pro on a 5Gbps connection also Ethernet.
