@mae-3 @Thank you, I'll test wired tomorrow. Still pretty odd that quite a few of us are suggesting something isn't right whilst experiencing similar issues

I'm interested in the throughput issue and will recommend that you talk to Sky and backup your claim about that when a wired connection test is done, but am unsure what could be causing issues because there aren't profile parameters below 40/10Mbps to my knowledge like with what was found and recommended for a G.fast connection when it was found 80Mbps when should be 160Mbps which I've seen before on ultrafast connections...

this is my current status

I'm sorry the community couldn't help when you were having throughput issues when you were with Sky, but we certainly cannot help now you are with BT and your post adds nothing useful to the thread when you are with another provider?

I'm not with bt I am with sky

Sorry, thought you'd cancelled Sky but only treating to if the issue isn't resolved, will take a look at your router stats once they have been approved and advise accordingly, again sorry for misunderstanding.

It quite clearly states sky hub at the top of the page if you care to look and I left bt to join sky and had nothing but issues since!!!
mare there any issues with my details I have attached

Again. accept my apology for the misunderstanding, I cannot see the picture yet it needs approval by the power to be, unfortunately. That takes a little time once that is done will advise accordingly, in the meantime can you also post a throughput speed test over a wired connection to the router if not done already and router stats whichever hasn't been done?

The broadband router stats show that you are getting 68.3Mbps downstream and 20Mbps upstream and that you are around 240-250 metres from the cabinet. For that distance, the downstream is slightly low but it is likely above your guaranteed minimum speed? I'd expect the downstream speed to be low 70Mbps to maximum 80Mbps downstream for that distance but the cabinet is likely or almost full as you are experiencing crosstalk impacting speed slightly which is quite normal.
It is noticed in the Sky router stats that you are connected only by wireless to the Sky Hub, so you need to do a test with a computer/laptop that is wired to the router to establish whether there is an issue with your broadband throughput speed, this is because no internet provider guarantees wireless performance.
There is an article on the Sky site that explains about positioning and repositioning of the wireless router to attempt to improve its performance would be helpful if you are only using wireless to connect devices.

Also noticed on your router stats, you were downloading at 63Mbps downstream during the snapshot of the router stats, so there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with throughput but a device is downloading at just below maximum speed for your broadband at the time you took the router stats and this will impact everything else connected to the router, only 5Mbps left for them to share...
[add] I cannot see where the 63Mbps is being used on your network LAN or WLAN, the packets aren't shown on those interfaces even though they are shown on the WAN you may have a faulty router that would be worth replacing if you continue to get issues with throughput? Contact Sky for a new router if that is the case.

Is there any particular speedtest to use? I'll do it after work so neither of our work laptops are connected.
Thanks

fast.com or speedtest.net are good sites to test throughput speed tests.

@mae-3 is it possible that a firmware update has introduced this issue? It seems quite strange that numerous people would be experiencing the same problem while on different packages. I assume (although I don't know) that we are all on the same SR204 Sky hub 4.2ghz router; that people are having the same issue with the same 50%-ish decrease in speed, with stats showing that the speed going into the router is correct, the router would be the obvious choice as the cause but I've now had exactly the same speed on 2 different routers. And that problem wasn't present until recently.
Thanks again for all your help and advice.

If it was a firmware issue then the Sky forum would be very busy with people complaining about throughput issues as Sky has millions of subscribers, and not all those that have shown they have an issue is related to throughput that can be explained in that way, but its early days and the jury is out!
