Does Sky provide a Public IP address

Thinking of moving to Sky Broadband and wanted to know if I would be given (or can request) a public IP address. It needn't be static, but it must be public, so that I can access my home network remotely.  I ask because I know that some companies use CGNAT and this wouldn't allow remote access.

@MrPositive  All ISP connections have public IP addresses

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

By default new customers get a Max Hub which uses IPv4 addresses shared on an 8:1 ratio using MAP-T

Re: Does Sky provide a Public IP address

Thnak you @TimmyBGood - that is very helpful.  Reading about MAP-T, it seems that the sharing ratio is adjusted to accomodate any port forwarding, but would be good to get this confirmed.

I'm currently with Virgin Media and their hub doesn't support port forwarding, but I can configure it to run in modem only mode. I then use my own router which does support port forwarding and DDNS.

My VM router does.  I used it before I migrated to TailScale.

Google says Hub 3, 4 or 5 has port forwarding.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

@PandJ2020 - The VM hub I have is Hub 3 - As you rightly say, it does support port forwarding, but it doesn't support DDNS.

@MrPositive @If you are considering getting a full fibre service from Sky you can potentially attach your third party router directly to the ONT simplifying your setup. Most lines support DHCPv6 PD which almost every router offers but check yours. Around 20% of Openreach lines can only use DHCPv4 option61 which is only offered by some routers. You only need the Sky hub's if you want the voice line. The MAP-T issue only applies to the white Sky hubs.
