Do l need to change touter
I have down graded by superfast broadband to 35 activation date 28 November
I am currently running Sky superfast 55 with a Sky Q router , but Sky have sent out another 4.2 router
my question is do l need to use this new router when the existing one is working fine
also on activation date which is Thursday will things just swap over automatically as all l have asked for is to change down to superfast 35

All Q Hubs (from early 2016 onwards) are being replaced because they use a non-randomised default administrator password, and that's not allowed under the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act (2022)
They also don't support Sky Talk Internet Calls.

Re: Do l need to change touter
ISPs are legally obliged to swap out non-compliant hardware, so at some point Sky may have to withdraw service from all Hubs earlier than the 2019 Broadband Hub.

Re: Do l need to change touter
The Q Hub (ER110/115) is a design from 2016 which uses a fixed default administrator password, and that's no longer compliant with UK law.
Have you actually been using a Sky Broadband Hub (SR203/204) and just sent an identical replacement?
Q Hubs are distinctive by being horizontal rather than vertical.

Re: Do l need to change touter
Yes the reason they sent a replacement 4.2 was l asked to down grade to Sky Superfast 35
if l had stuck to my Sky superfast 55 contract it works fine
i didnt want a new router as l am disabled and struggle setting new routers up
i only have sky stream and two Amazon Alexa's so hope the Sky Superfast 35 is not going to cause problems with my sky stream

Re: Do l need to change touter
Superfast 35 may be marginal for UHD streaming if there's other internet use at the same time.
Sky has no option over replacement of Q Hubs because Government has designated non-compliant hardware as being a potential threat to national security, but I've no idea if they'll be enforcing the change any time soon: there are probably huge numbers still in use.
