Disappointing set up

I was given an installation date for next week and they immediately cancelled it and swapped it for a date 2 months away!! There is a very big difference between 1 week and 2 months! 8 weeks is a very long time when i work fully at home.

Why wasn't this excessive wait period clearly stated online when I checked or on the phone when i called twice - anyone else have success bringing the date forward? Or is there a temporary dongle they issue for the interim wait period.

I've now checked with other providers, as this was enough for me to look elsewhere, and they (Vodafone) are upfront with the installation dates being in the future. I am disappointed that sky did not do this.

Sky doesn't offer that.  Typically such a delay is because Openreach faces a challenge to provision the circuit, which isn't anything that their client ISPs can influence.

@Misssbrown

Also it's worth clarifying that Sky broadband discussed here is a domestic service and whilst Sky are apparently fine with its customers working from home using it for this purpose they won't receive any additional or quicker support.
