Damage to Openreach ducting
The grey Openreach ducting to the outside wall of our house has become damaged and there is a hole approx. 30mm x 30mm. in it.
Apparently Sky / Openreach will not attend to repair this damage as it does not currently affect our Sky service.
It seems ridiculous as it is inevitable that eventually there will be water ingress and water does not happily co-exist with electricity.

True, but only with copper phone cable that has an exposed metallic core or possibly a submerged joint. Realistically maintaining the legacy copper network isn't a priority for Openreach as they push for full fibre coverage by the end of 2026.

Re: Damage to Openreach ducting
@Chris4C hopefully the cable in the duct has an insulated jecket. If you are still on a copper connection Openreach are increasingly not doing any meaningful work as the system is being replaced by full fibre which is not affected by water.

Re: Damage to Openreach ducting
The Openreach service was originally installed 3 years ago, hopefully that means it is full fibre.

Re: Damage to Openreach ducting
It's FTTP if it arrives at an Openreach ONT with lit LEDs rather than an unpowered wall socket.

Re: Damage to Openreach ducting
The Openreach box on the inside is white and has flashing LED lights.

Re: Damage to Openreach ducting
@Chris4C in which case it is full fibre the cable carries an optical signal and has a kevlar sleeve.

Re: Damage to Openreach ducting
That would be correct for a full fibre connection, so the circuit isn't electrical to be affected by water in a duct.
