Consistent ping spikes on Roblox
For a few months up until now I have been experiencing ping spikes that occur very often whenever I play Roblox. Previously I thought that it may have something to due with my PC, which I only received just over a year ago - as a result I have tried resolving the ping issues to the point where I have even reset my PC multiple times, however it turns out (to me) that the PC itself is not the cause of the problem as I still experience these annoying ping spikes which impact me a lot when gaming.
Today, I experimented to see if the problem was caused by my broadband by connecting my PC to my mobile hotspot rather than using an ethernet connected to a WiFi booster (which I usually use) or WiFi itself (which I have also used in an attempt to fix the problem). While connected to my mobile hotspot, I did not ecounter any ping spikes, therefore leading me to the conclusion that my broadband itself was the cause of the problem. Nevertheless, although my dad is an existing customer of Sky, my dad is also not really knowledgable in relation to technology itself and my siblings themselves, in my opinion, do not have any consideration towards my ping spikes as they are being unaffected themselves. Therefore, I sincerely ask for any solutions on how I can fix this - I have even gone to the Sky Hub website but I do not really know how it works.

Re: Consistent ping spikes on Roblox
@Anonymous the main cause of ping spikes when gaming is packet loss caused by wifi interference. Whether your PC is connected by Wifi or by Ethernet to an extender the wifi jump to the hub is the likely cause. That you did not get spikes when using a mobile hotspot can be down to any number of issues so isn't conclusive by any means .
If you install an app called Wifi Analyzer onto your PC which will show you all wifi networks within range of the wifi card. Two networks on the same or adjacent channel will interfere and can cause packet loss. If your extender is not a Sky unit that itself could be part of the problem. A Sky booster shouldn't cause an issue. Finding a clear wifi channel can be almost impossible which is why serious gamers use ethernet to the hub.
If you can exclude wifi interference you can check the incoming connection for issues by setting up a Broadband Quality Monitor see https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality This pings your hub regularly and records the round trip time and will show if any of the packets are lost. Line issues are rare and often impossible to get fixed as the only guaranteed metric is bandwidth but the trace is useful in establishing where the fault lies.
If your home connection has multiple users when you are gaming that can also cause issues as Skybhubs have no way to prioritise gaming traffic.
