Re: Consistent latency issues

@Inbound8621 You have the SR203 hub from sky running a FF500 fttp service, and the FW was updated on that hub i would say about 3 weeks ago.

Since you know how to look at the hub, go to the maintenance / router status and bottom off the page show statistics, all times should be the same but you can capture and post the page up just give it some time to fill in the data fields. You will need the password to logon when asked.

Re: Consistent latency issues

@Inbound8621 So what else was going on at the time when you had and there is NO doubt about it the NETWORK got real busy and just could not respond back to anything!

Re: Consistent latency issues

Literally the only things going on at the time in the house were my parents watching TV and me running that test from my PC. No kitchen appliances etc just TV and PC. I'll respond to the other comment regarding the hub once I'm back from work tomorrow, thank you for all the help so far 🙏

Is this what you're looking for?

Re: Consistent latency issues

@Inbound8621 That's the one for the stat's everything is being used, 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz and also the Network Lan connection to that SR203, but with the issue that you have on the PC are you connected Ethernet or is it all wireless connected!

Nothing wrong with those stat's the hub is showing NO problems thrown up!

And when i look at them, and you were pulling the stat's from your PC, would automatically say you are connected via wireless wi-fi on the 5Ghz band.

For your notes the first reported FW update to that version on the Forum was 28th June 2025, not known what or why it was done reason wise!

Re: Consistent latency issues

@Inbound8621 Your approach has to be broken down 1 by 1 to get to the bottom off it.

1. Is it the hub that has the issue.

2. Is it the hub wi-fi that is causing the issue.

3. If i have Ethernet on my PC can i run a cable between them both temp at present to see if it all goes away.

4. Is it MY PC that has a problem, i can use the Task Manager, have it open bottom off the task bar, when all the ping latency happens then i can maximize it and have a look on it to see if i can spot anything.

5. Is it the site where i am gaming too that is falling over, nothing i can do about that it just cannot get the data to me in an orderly fashion.

6. When i have the problem the whole house is giving me greiff, if they are not then it is just you/pc/hub involved and more easier to track it down!

Re: Consistent latency issues

Okay, a full breakdown below:

I'm not sure what is causing the issue. However the issue is as follows: seemingly random spikes in latency. When this happens I have noticed the strength of connection drops and the download speed on a speedtest goes down by roughly 100mbps

This issue is not isolated to my computer. My dad has also noticed it on his setup and it is also identifiable through my phone when running a speedtest during one of these spikes.

My dad is connected via a TP link powerline to ethernet adapter whereas I am connected via WiFi

The spikes aren't isolated to a game. It affects everything from gaming to MS Teams call connections.

If any other info is needed please let me know. Apologies for not writing it out in an orderly way beforehand

Re: Consistent latency issues

@Inbound8621 How long have you had the Fibre line installed? Has anything else been introduced to interupt the network home wise, ie new powerline was installed and connected up to a sky Q, the sky Q network is in the ethernet storm mode, i disconnect the Q and all is good!

Re: Consistent latency issues

The only thing I can think of is that we cancelled our sky TV subscription, only have them for internet now however I'm not sure if that would effect it . I believe the fibre line has been installed for a good few years now

Re: Consistent latency issues

@Inbound8621 Was it sky Q and sky mini's for the TV?

Re: Consistent latency issues

I believe so yes

Re: Consistent latency issues

@Inbound8621 THEN if you did all off those devices wireless connected set up a distributed Sky Q wireless Mesh system so many paths to connect to the sky Hub, taking those out you have now restricted the wireless to ONLY the SR203 hub!

If you did that just recently it could account for your very poor wireless performance, so have a think about it first, every Q and Mini was a wireless node, just like a whole blown mesh system!

Re: Consistent latency issues

Ahhh that makes a lot of sense. The connection issues started around the time we got rid of it so I could imagine that's what it is. Would getting a booster or anything of the sort work?

Re: Consistent latency issues

@Inbound8621 If this is all associated as a wireless stability issue then yes, what did you have for the TV side ie 1 Q and X amount off mini's. lets touch base on PM again.

Just deleted the PM to you!
