Connection to PS5 "poor"

I have Sky Full Fibre GigaFast with Sky WiFi Max which i thought would be best as I have a gamer son. He is currently kicking off as the Wifi to his PlayStation is not running as it should. His game is glitching, he has "serious lag" and don't get me started on the "ping"! We are in a three storey town house, the router is on the middle floor and the PS5 is on the ground floor so I can't connect them via ethranet cable and I don't want to spend £200+ for a "wired to the house electrics" thing. Can anyone suggest an option that I don't need to take out a second mortgage to fund as I am already paying nearly twice what I was paying for my last contract simply to upgrade to this one - which doesn't seem to be doing what it is meant to do...!

@BadgersGal one technology that can help is powerline networking which uses yiur home's mainsxwiring to carry the data . While not as goodcas a direct Ethernet run these are normally a goid second choice You ned a kit with two adappters the first is plugged into a wall socket near the hub and linked by an ethernet lead that comes with the kit. The second plugs into a wall socket in your son's room and linked again by Ethernet.

Notmally these kits give a bandwidth roughly 30% of what is stated on the box. You do not need a kit with a built-in WiFi access point. Most adapters include a pass through mains socket meaning you dont lose the use of tgat socket, Don't use these on a power strips orctrailing adappters.

@BadgersGal I would disagree with @Chrisee about using Powerline adaptors especially in your case, as the 3 floors will likely have their own separate electrical ring circuits. They can still (probably) connect but it can be disappointing.

In your case I would look at the bottom of their reply to you where they mention their setup. The 3 TP-Link Deco M4 units (£119 on Amazon at the moment) in access point mode would possibly suit you more. The first unit would be plugged into the Sky Hub on the middle floor, the second on the ground floor next to the PS5 and connected via ethernet cable to the console. The third could go on the top floor if needed or on whichever floor needs it most. You can then disable the Sky Hub wifi entirely.

Obviously the pods are yours to keep and can be used with any ISP supplier.

@Me134 powerline adapters across circuits as long as they are fed by the same consumer unit. The technology these days uses all three conductors and is much improved over earlier adapters
