Completely useless internet
So after a fair bit of hassle (caused by OpenReach and Sky's incompetence & interesting concept of preferring email) finally getting internet to my new flat...
Day One - internet constantly dropping late evening
Day Two - try to stream, fine in the morning, after a couple of hours in the evening 40% frame loss rate which is absolutely appalling. Give up after it continues for half an hour.
Day Three - this early morning try to stream. Get disconnected after 5 minutes 20odd seconds. Stay disconnected for another five minutes and give up.
Absolutely diabolical.

Re: Completely useless internet
To preempt some of the usual stuff:
No service issues in the area.
I use an ethernet cable to the router.
The upload speed is frequently awful on speed tests, dropping below 1 Mbps

Re: Completely useless internet
@evilbudgie useful you thought to add the necessary detail to save forum members time replying without knowing the facts. If your device is connected by a direct Ethernet cable we can rule out issues with WiFi which are by far the most common issue on this forum.
Sky do not accept issues on speed for the first 14 days as partial fibre connections take time to optimise this doesn't apply to full fibre but why stop using an excuse not to address issues? Personally I would check the download speeds Sky measure daily in the Service Checker as if there is a significant issue it should show there and when ringing Sky concentrate on the inability to stream video which is a core requirment.
You have 31 days to cancel the service without cost assuming you are in the UK (its 14days in Ireland) but given switching to another ISP using the same line is pretty pointless if there is a line issue.

Re: Completely useless internet
Yes I'm basically stuck with this line for a while unless I go back to Virgin, who already screwed me over by missing an appointment and then expected me to run around after them to book an engineer to do the work they didn't bother doing before the missed appointment, so I could then hope they turn up this next time then book another engineering appointment on top of that to get connected.
It's a 'FTTC' or 'Superfast' line that should give up to 76Mbps download and 15Mbps upload. I'm consistently getting low 50s download and ~1Mbps upload throughout this morning. But I also had a 0 upload result. The download speed would be fine if it didn't drop. But the upload speed is totally unacceptable.
