Changed to fibre, router was moved upstairs to back of house and poor connection downstairs

I was upgraded to sky fibre, I had no issues with my internet prior to this. I expected the router to be in the same position in the living room. When the engineer came he said as the cab,e was at the back of the property it had to come in the back? I was having a new kitchen fitted at the time so I couldn't put it in there. The only other option was a back bedroom. I was told that my sky q box would act like a booster and the signal was fine. I now struggle to load the content of emails and open web pages downstairs. If I'm upstairs it's fine but the poor connection downstairs is driving us mad. I feel like I am in a worse position than I was and this was meant to be an upgrade. We have a booster downstairs for our rung doorbell but even connecting to this the connection is not that great. I have yet to contact Sky about it. I do feel I was misled. I have gone into the router to download the stats if this helps. Thank you IMG_2977.png

@CC66 getting wifi coverage through out modern homes can be challenging. The location of your ONT unit where the fibre stops has to reasonably near where the cable is attached to your house. However the Sky hub does not have to be near the ONT as the two are linked by a simple ethernet cable, so if its practical could you run a longer cable to a more central point?

If you have Q boxes that are losing connection or you buy Sky's broadband boost bundle Sky will send you a booster if asked but boosters have limited worth as they need a decent signal to boost so should be mounted half way between the hub and where you need to boost.

One thing I used to do when I had Q boxes was to buy a powerline adapter kit to improve the connection for my Q box. These kits use your mains wiring to carry the data and work in most homes . This improves the speed the Q box can supply through its wifi hot spot. You could do the same for your existing booster if you prefer. .

Re: Changed to fibre, router was moved upstairs to back of house and poor connection downstairs

Thank you for your response. We currently have no issues with our Q boxes. The issue is using iPads/phones on the Internet downstairs. I will look into the suggestion of moving the router to another location and see if this is feasible. Thanks again.
