Certain apps not working when connected to Wifi

Hi.

Sorry to resurrect this topic but the previous discussion is marked as 'solved', despite the "solution" being cancelling the contract...

I'm having the issue as descibed in the title - some of my apps (banking apps for example, but My Sky is also affected) are getting stuck on the loading screen and time out after a while. Seems to be limited to Android as my fiance's iPhone appears unaffected, while 2 of my Android phones and tablets do suffer from the same thing.
The issue goes away by either using VPN or mobile data - or by simply connecting to a wifi that is literally anything but Sky.
This thread seems to describe a very similar issue :
https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband/Can-t-update-or-install-apps-on-android-or-YouTube-not-workin...

What I tried so far :
- Restarted the router and the fibre modem
- Disabled Broadband Shield
- Tried disabling/enabling various router settings (like upnp)

I live in Horley (Surrey).

@Frank_Linadams What sky hub do you have? Also what service do you get from sky for your Broadband?

It's an SR203, and I get Full Fibre 150 from Sky. Installed a few weeks ago.

@Frank_Linadams Since you have the SR203 hub, would try splitting the bands and double check your wireless wpa setting, also go set the WANoE mode rather than on Auto, decission if you split what is the easier to name with the less reconnections.

Android only issue, does not sound like the hub, always found the SR203 to be fairly rock solid.

@JimM1

Ok, so it would seem that switching to WANoE mode sorted most of the issues, or at least now those apps just have a 10-15 second delay starting up rather than timing out, so I'll take this as a win.

Thank you for your help!

@Frank_Linadams All you can do is keep the eye on it, i am chasing an android fault ONLY on my phone thankfully, not the same sypmtoms as just a pure speed fall down over a few hours, and only on the 5Ghz band, and it's looking like i may have cracked it but too early to say....

Sorry, I was being an idiot. Just noticed that my VPN was on while doing these checks... unfortunately the apps still time out. 😞

Re: Certain apps not working when connected to Wifi

@Frank_Linadams I am not a mobile or android phone expert in any way, phones are for making phone calls, all i can say is the last part to get my phone working and has been 2 day's now and been fighting the sucker for weeks, deleted the 5Ghz ssid connection that was setup for the phone, did NOT added it back for 24hrs, and also powered down the phone for 30 mins, after i had deleted. That appears to have it up and working again. I normally saw the issue as it slowly just could not get download speed to the phone, upload was allways fine, been good now for a few day's but the verdict is still out at present....

One has got to do whatever it takes to get it working, that was the most logical for me as was having nothing to do with it must be your hub causing the issue, and it has taken a long/long time to sort it out (hopefully)....

Re: Certain apps not working when connected to Wifi

I actually managed to find the setting that caused it.... it was the IPv6. I've disabled it in Advanced/LAN IP Setup/Enable IPv6 on LAN side and now the apps actually load as normal.

Re: Certain apps not working when connected to Wifi

@Frank_Linadams You need to report the findings to sky, as that is completely wrong in operation.
